who died twenty two years ago
at the age of 19 from Cystic Fibrosis.
I lost a wonderful son and the world
lost a very good man.

Before reading my page, May I introduce myself. My name is Darlene and my home is in Virginia. I was born Darlene R. Settle in California. At a very early age, I went to live with my grandparents and later with my brother in Florida.
In 1953 I met my late husband Bob and we were married and moved to Virginia where he worked and retired as a police officer. We were blessed with four wonderful children (One Daughter and three Sons) Dianne, Jimmy, RV and Dave. I also have 2 beautiful Grand'Daughters (Jennifer and Karen.) They both are attending Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
In 1977 we lost our son, Jimmy, who at age 19 died from Cystic Fibrosis. My husband passed away in 1991 and I now share my home with my youngest son Dave. Also, One Dog, Two Cats and three very noisy Cockatiels.
I am a member of the Church of Christ where I taught children's Bible class for many years. I am now on a much needed break from teaching, but hope to resume teaching classes again one day.
Through the years I have enjoyed many activities and a few hobbies with time afforded me from house work and the busy schedule of caring for my family. I loved to paint which no longer is an interest since my husbands death. I was active in CERRT (React) work and still enjoy working the holidays offering coffee, snacks and help or directions to motorists traveling in our area of Virginia. I also have a passion for collecting thimbles
Today I enjoy going to Yard Sales to find bargains and look
for thimbles which I collect and of course "the Computer,"
where I spend a lot (probably to much) of my time.
However, it is time well spent with the many very dear
friends I have made and new friends I have yet to meet.
As
for food fare, there are very few things I dislike eating,
but chocolate is near the top of my favorite's list.
